Electrical Estimator - Charleston, SC

Position Overview

You will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs and resources required for electrical installations. Your role will involve reviewing project plans, conducting material takeoffs, analyzing labor requirements, and preparing comprehensive cost estimates. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical systems, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Analysis: Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to determine the scope of electrical work required.
  • Material Takeoffs: Conduct thorough material takeoffs and calculate quantities needed for electrical installations.
  • Labor Estimation: Analyze project requirements to accurately determine labor needs.
  • Supplier Collaboration: Work closely with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain precise pricing for materials and services.
  • Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs.
  • Presentations: Present estimates to management and clients, providing clear explanations and justifications for pricing.
  • Bid Participation: Engage in bid reviews and negotiations, offering insights to enhance our competitiveness.
  • Project Handover: Collaborate with the project management team to ensure accurate handover of estimates and relevant documentation.
  • Industry Knowledge: Stay updated on industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and new technologies to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator in the construction industry, with specific experience in water treatment plants and federal projects.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical systems, components, and installation techniques.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using estimating software and tools such as Accubid, McCormick, and Bluebeam.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and mathematical abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Communication: Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Organization: Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Regulations: Knowledge of relevant electrical codes and regulations.
