Summary: MSI provides cost engineering, scheduling, and risk analysis services in support of numerous federal and government agencies. Our cost and schedule professionals deliver planning, design, and construction phase services around the world, including remote locations.
We currently have an opening for a Mid-level Cost Estimator in our Cost Engineering and Project Controls division. The location of this position in Niceville, FL, San Antonio, TX, Washington, DC, and Kansas City, MO.
Essential Duties: - Reviews plans and specifications to become familiar with project scopes
- Perform quantity take-offs and pricing of primarily federal construction projects
- Develop accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, and overheads.
- Provide high-quality estimating data in a timely and professional manner
- Develop familiarity with Work Breakdown Structure and Cost Element concepts
- Assist in estimate preparation
- Develop basic working knowledge of the Estimating knowledge communities.
- Apply basic computer skills in the execution of work
- Other duties as assigned
- Monitor project costs throughout the construction phase and provide cost control measures to keep projects within budget.
Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from accredited college or university; engineering or quantity survey degree preferred
- 1 - 5 (one to five) years’ experience in cost estimating for facilities/vertical construction
- Working knowledge of construction costs and engineering principles
- Knowledge and experience in estimating software and tools (Bluebeam, PlanSwift, MII, PACES, RS Means).
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must be able to pass background screening including criminal history, credit check etc.
- Certification such as CCT, CCP or CEP is preferred
- General knowledge of construction methods and practices
- Strong individual contributor who is comfortable and effective in working with internal discipline teams and external client teams.
- Good listening and communication skills.
- Due to the clients we serve, this position requires US Citizenship.
