Job Description:
- The Client is committed to securing and protecting taxpayer information.
- We are seeking an experienced Microsoft Purview resource to implement a data labeling and data loss prevention solution in Office 365.
- This will include email, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams. This effort must be completed prior to migration of files to the Microsoft Office 365 cloud.
- The Purview expert must have hands on experience in the deployment and testing of data classification/labeling and data loss prevention across an enterprise.
- The individual must be able to demonstrate data protection experience in large scale Purview implementations.
- This project involves collaboration across multiple Clients agencies. The resource will play a crucial role in protecting client data.
Responsibilities:
- This role is pivotal in developing strategies that will transform our approach to data, particularly in the realm of data migration to the cloud
- Configure and maintain Microsoft Purview solutions, aligning with DOR and Commonwealth goals and best practices
- Utilize Microsoft Purview to ensure data classification and data loss prevention is implemented across all Office 365 Cloud environments
- Utilize Microsoft Purview to gain visibility into data across the organization, safeguard and manage sensitive data across its lifecycle, and govern data in comprehensive ways
- Contribute to the development of data governance policies
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define data management requirements
- Provide strategic guidance and hands-on expertise to cross-functional teams
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and provide recommendations to enhance data governance and data management initiatives
- Design and implement metadata standards, models, and processes for the organization
- Ensure that the labels are accurately captured, and are organized in a way that makes it easily accessible and understandable for users
- Work closely with data owners to identify and document business and technical metadata for all critical data elements for covered information domains
- Work with agencies across the Commonwealth to identify best practices and processes for data loss prevention
- Utilize Microsoft Purview's risk and compliance solutions to minimize compliance risks and meet regulatory requirements
- Conduct training sessions to educate both technical users on Microsoft Purview functionality and best practices
- Align the overarching data strategy with the organization's goals and ensure ongoing monitoring and adaptation
Qualifications:
- Experience with Microsoft Purview and be able to configure and maintain it in large-scale enterprise environments
- 6+ years working in the IT industry with 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Purview
- Ability to develop Purview policies for data labeling and data loss prevention
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to develop and execute unit tests on Purview polices
- Experience working in a structured development environment with formal change management and defect tracking
- Experience working with a quality assurance team and knowledge of formal testing principles
- Experience working in data security and cybersecurity preferably in a CISO office
- Experience working on government (state or federal) Purview projects
- Experience writing and updating formal data protection requirements
- Proven track record of successfully managing and configuring Microsoft Purview
- Experience in Information security governance, risk and compliance
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical solutions
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders
- Ability to translate Purview and data protection concepts into a narrative for non-technical stakeholders
- Knowledge of IRS Publication 1075 requirements is desired
- Experience with Jira bug tracking and testing tools is desired
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related technical field is desired. Equivalent experience will be considered
