Job Summary

Our client is seeking a Logistics Coordinator to join their team in Houston, TX. The logistics coordinator will serve as the liaison between suppliers, carriers, clients and internal teams to ensure shipments are delivered in a timely cost-efficient manner.

Job Description

• Help manager and coordinate the flow of lumber shipments from suppliers to the facility, collaborating with the receiving department to ensure shipments are properly tracked and unloaded
• Coordinate all shipments to customers, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery
• Develop and implement logistics plans and procedures to optimize distribution efficiency and minimize costs
• Continually improve logistics processes to enhance overall operational performance
• Monitor inventory levels at warehouses and coordinate with procurement and sales teams to ensure adequate stock levels to meet customer demands
• Quickly address customer inquiries and resolve logistics-related issues
• Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction through effective communication and problem-solving
• Create regular reports on logistics performance, including key metrics such as on-time delivery, transportation costs, and truck utilization
• Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions
• Comfortable spending 10-20% in the yard communicating with personnel

Skills Required

• 1-2 years of experience in a logistics role
• Some experience/knowledge of lumber is plus
• Basic math and reading comprehension
• Computer knowledge, email, Microsoft Suite and excel
• Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred
• Lunber experience a plus

Education/Training/Certifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Additional Requirements

• Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 5:30am – 4:30pm

Pay Rate/Salary

• $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skill set and/or location.
