The Division of Disease Control and Public Health Response (DCPHR) exists to ensure that the Department has the ability to effectively monitor, detect, diagnose, prepare for, and nimbly respond to, all types of conditions and events that impact the public’s health. The division includes the Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response; State Public Health Laboratory; Health Equity Branch, Communicable Disease Branch; Immunization Branch; Public Health Informatics, Reporting, Technology Branch; Refugee Branch; and Operations Branch. The Division exists to ensure that the Department has the ability to effectively prepare for, monitor, detect, diagnose, investigate, and nimbly respond to all types of conditions, events and disasters that impact the public’s health.

The Unit
The Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response (OEPR) develops and implements emergency response plans for CDPHE to fulfill the State’s Emergency Support Function #8 (Health, Medical, and Mortuary). CDPHE is the responsible state agency for health protection and medical response during emergencies in Colorado. OEPR ensures that CDPHE, local public health, and medical agencies have plans for responding to emergencies and administering medication to all citizens in Colorado. Additionally, OEPR assesses disaster events, trains health professionals on response protocols, coordinates emergency preparedness education, ensures communication among stakeholders, and manages the Strategic National Stockpile statewide

What you will be doing...
This position serves in the capacity of logistics coordination, cache maintenance, planning and implementation of logistical needs for OEPR.

Logistics coordination
  • Day-to-day operations for the division including dispatching and maintaining equipment.
  • Works with different branches to ensure that orders are complete and accurate.
  • Resolves courier issues.
  • Monitors communication channels for equipment orders/submissions.
  • Selects, packs, fulfills, ships and ensures delivery of orders to the correct recipients.
  • Interacts with requesters to ensure proper and timely fulfillment of orders.
  • Resolves courier issues. 
Cache Maintenance
  • Identifies needed resources, compiles the requests, and establishes a process for the procurement of supplies. 
  • Maintains a log of equipment, supplies and staff and tracks, acquires, and maintain supplies, equipment, and staff to support a response.
  • Maintains inventory at OEPR warehouses and storage areas.
  • Maintains accurate inventory data in state management systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 
Experience Only:

Three (3) years  of relevant experience * in e mergency preparedness and response distribution facility performing duties described in the job description or closely related work experience.

OR

Education and Experience:

A combination of related education ** in e mergency preparedness and response  and/or logistics will substitute for the required related to the work assigned equal to three (3) years

Conditions of Employment:

  • A pre-employment background check will be conducted as part of the selection process. 

  • Critical Status: Must be available to work and/or remain at their worksite in delayed start, early release, or closure situations.

  • Critical Status: Must be available in the event of an emergency, (e.g., bio-terrorist attack, chemical attack, disease outbreak or all hazards) and be required to report to work immediately at the regular or alternate location. During this time, travel restrictions may be in place.
