Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES 

In the classroom, the Teaching Assistant: 

• u nder the supervision of the Lead Teacher, leads lessons and facilitates formative assessments for small groups of students; 
• assists students on-on-one;
• contributes to classroom management and behavior management; 
• supervises students independently; 
• prepares materials;
• supports the Lead Teacher across the academic and social-emotional program as needed.

In addition to classroom duties, the Teaching Assistant: 

• attends in-service; 
• participates in Back-to-School Night, family-teacher conferences, and other school events; 
• facilitates class field trips; 
• completes other duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher or Head of School, consistent with the position of an Assistant Teacher and member of the faculty.

This is a full-time, salaried position.

About State College Friends School

State College Friends School is an independent Quaker school serving approximately 120 students in Pre-K through 8th grade. SCFS has found that multi-age grouping encourages children of many ages to teach and learn from one another and enables teachers to strengthen relationships with the students with whom they work for multiple years.
